Lovely restaurant. Amanda was our server and was very attentive. The service was great. Food was brought out quickly and tasted wonderful. They have a full bar. And when we were there (Wednesday evening), the restaurant wasn't super crowded but not empty. The food was excellent! We wanted to try a few different things so we got; Calamari, Bruschetti, Fettuccine Bolognase, and Scaloppine Florentine (amazing!). They also have bread & a good little olive oil dip for it that's seasoned wonderfully.

This review is based on a restaurant that is just opening. After a soft opening they had issues with there POS system and actually had to shutdown. So this is a "reopening" which just happened yesterday. Mentioning this because everyone is new there. The staff, the cooks, etc. They're still dialing things in as any new restaurant would have to do. We believe some of the current reviewers may not have been aware that this restaurant had literally just opened the day they visited. With that said, we found the food to be very authentic, we know our Italian. Real Italian food is nothing like US-based Italian restaurants. Portions were so large that you'll have enough to take home for another meal. The calamari was very well done. Very light on the flower, and fried to perfection. The red sauce that comes alongside it was not overpowering in any way. The chicken parmesan was very well made. The breading on the chicken was very good. The only thing I would suggest would be sliced mozzarella versus shredded. But that's a personal preference. The fettuccine bolognese was very good. Plenty of meat sauce that was well seasoned with linguine that I believe was freshly made in house. (If not it's really good quality pasta.) Two typical desserts for an Italian restaurant, Tiramisu and Cannolis. Unfortunately, the Tiramisu was still being made this evening and thus wasn't ready for serving. The Cannoli was nothing special, but I feel it was overpriced. We found the atmosphere to be to our liking, however they really should replace the artwork they put on the walls. They look like posters behind plexiglass. It doesn't help the acoustics of the building and if they would replace those with canvas, paintings or even prints it would help with some sound absorption not to mention have a better look. The owner greeted us at the door, and we had our service dog with us. The owner stopped before he reached us, knowing he was a service dog, and asked permission if he can be petted while "working". Funny part is we don't believe the waitress ever noticed the 80 lb service dog laying next to the wall. Then again part of this job is to not be noticed. All in all we will be back, and hope to see things dialed in even more. We give the owner(s) credit for opening an authentic Italian restaurant in Monterey, Tennessee! Update 12/24/24... Yes you read that right. We went back to the restaurant on Christmas Eve. It was a pleasant experience for sure. Staff was very attentive, food was excellent, and the portions were again to the point that we need to bring them home for leftovers. All in all the restaurant is doing well a number of weeks later after opening.

We're in town for the weekend and would come back just to eat here. Impeccable service. We did not even have to think about what we needed, our server was there before the thought entered our heads. The food. Oh my freaking goodness the food. I had the special which was the pork shank and the meat was truly fall off the bone tender. So incredibly flavorful. The owner came by and struck up a lovely conversation complete with recommendations for restaurants near us, though again we would drive the 2 hours just to eat here. Then for dessert, the tiramisu was divine. It is not pictured because it was consumed so quickly. The ambiance is wonderful, it feels like we're all here celebrating something.

I have been meaning to get around to this review for a week. I’m finally doing it and I hope it helps people make their decision on if you should try this restaurant or not. I will say that my husband and I didn’t have super high expectations for Sapori. Not because we doubted the cooks or owners.. more so because food quality has gone way down. We didn’t know what to really expect with it being in the little town of Monterey. Let me just say we were absolutely surprised at how amazing it was! We did wait about 10-15 min for someone to come and take our food order which is why I have the service 4 stars. We started off with the bruschetta and it wasn’t the best that we had ever had but it was good. They also bring out bread and a dipping oil. This was just olive oil and Parmesan cheese... nothing special. My husband was very excited to find out that they had gnocchi as a special. This was the BEST gnocchi that we had ever had. It just melted in your mouth. I played it safe and got the fettuccine Alfredo... holy wow! The sauce was amazing!!! It was light, not heavy and the flavor! We asked if the chef (part owner) could come out and talk with us. We gave him praise and Eddy was so friendly! My husband and I own a restaurant and we know how hard it can be. We wanted him to know that his hustle is paying off! We ended up getting some desserts to go and Eddy surprised us with his dessert special for free! The tiramisu was made in house, so good and creamy! You should absolutely give this place a try. We were very impressed.

We got there around 7pm on a Friday night. The place was completely packed with a 20-30 minute wait so we sat at the bar and had a drink. About 20 minutes later we had our table. The menu selection was full of incredible choices. It made it really hard to choose but we did. We had the calamari and the mussel appetizers to start. The calamari was lightly fried and delicious! The mussels were served in a wonderful tomato sauce that was beyond delicious! For our main course I ordered the chicken marsala and my husband ordered the Penne ala Norcina. Both were excellent! My friend ordered the porkchop Ludovico and her husband got the Ravioli alla vodka. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and we had plenty to take home. We will definitely be back!!

I wanted to update my original review, as it was given back in October, when the Sapori di Napoli opened. Still 5 stars across the board, but I wanted to give more detail on what we love about this restaurant. The food is delicious and plentiful, and Chef Eddy and the kitchen staff provide some outstanding food to choose from. We have loved everything we have tried, and we have been steadily working our way through the menu. Some of our favorites are the Calamari Fritti and Mozzarella in Carrozza appetizers, the Apetitosa salad, the Penne Alla Norcina and the Spaghetti al Nero pastas, and the Veal Milanese. Daily specials offer items that aren't on the regular menu, so be sure to ask about them. Save room for the Tiramisu...you won't be disappointed. The wine selection is extensive and offers something for everyone. We weren't wine drinkers before Sapori di Napoli opened, but we have learned a lot about really good wines over the last few months. We started our wine education with some of the house by-the-glass options, and have graduated to purchasing a bottle of wine to enjoy with our meal. The servers are all attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine. We have our favorite server, and I'm sure you will too! These folks work so hard to make sure customers have a fantastic dining experience. The owner is a wonderful person who took a chance on bringing his love for delicious, authentic Italian food to our small town. If you have the opportunity to speak with him, I hope you will join me in thanking him for bringing A Taste of Naples to Monterey.

This was an absolute treat. Monterey is currently improving their town, and this is a gem of restaurant. From the ambiance, service, and most importantly, the food. Our sever Kaylee was outstanding and knowledgeable on the menu items. She was one of the best waitresses we have had. She had the right amount of professionalism and personality that made my wife and my dinner night a most wonderful one. The food was out of bounds great. The owner has it going on with his establishment. We loved it and will definitely be back.
